Frequently Asked Questions About HP DesignJet T2600 Supplies
What's the difference between 130ml and 300ml HP 730 cartridges?
The 300ml high-capacity cartridges contain more than double the ink of standard 130ml cartridges, offering a lower cost per milliliter and fewer cartridge changes. They're ideal for high-volume printing environments where the T2600 runs continuously. The 130ml cartridges are perfect for offices with moderate printing needs or those requiring multiple color sets for different projects.
How often should I replace the HP 731 printhead?
The HP 731 printhead typically lasts for approximately 30,000 prints or when print quality noticeably declines. Your T2600 will display a notification when a replacement is needed. Signs that indicate printhead replacement include streaking, missing colors, or inconsistent line quality. Regular use of genuine HP inks helps maximize printhead lifespan.
Can I use third-party ink cartridges in my HP DesignJet T2600?
While third-party cartridges may physically fit, using genuine HP 730 cartridges ensures optimal print quality, protects your warranty, and prevents potential printer damage. The T2600 uses dynamic security measures to verify genuine HP chips. Non-HP inks may cause printhead clogs, color inaccuracy, and void your printer warranty.
What's the shelf life of HP 730 ink cartridges?
Unopened HP 730 cartridges have a shelf life of approximately 30 months when stored properly in a cool, dry environment. Once installed, cartridges should be used within 6 months for best results. The "use by" date is printed on each cartridge package. Prints made with HP 730 inks can last up to 100 years in dark storage conditions.
Why does my T2600 need gray ink cartridges?
The gray ink cartridge (P2V66A/P2V72A) is essential for producing smooth color transitions and true neutral grays in technical drawings. It eliminates color casts in grayscale prints and improves shadow detail in color prints. This is particularly important for architectural renderings, engineering drawings, and photographic prints where accurate gray reproduction is critical.
